Garland Favorito - Voting Watchdog
What is going on with Georgia's Voting System?
Georgia’s elected officials are considering switching to hand-marked paper ballots or ballot-marking devices as a way to ensure accuracy. But we also have big money being chased by companies who want to sell new electronic-only machines. The Secure, Accessible & Fair Elections (SAFE) Commission is reviewing voting systems right now, and there is confusion and concern.
Will we have a paper ballot trail for the November election? What are the costs? What are the benefits/disadvantages? What would it take to have secure and verifiable voting in our elections?
Another question - how do you get your name on the ballot if you are not running as Republican or Democrat? Do you know it is almost impossible to do?
Our speaker this month will be Garland Favorito of VoterGA.org. Garland spends a great deal of time at the Capital and is an expert in all the voting process. The election in November could be very close, and sometimes Democrats find a way to win close elections. Imagine what Georgia will be like after four years under Governor Abrams!
