"The Oath I swore to uphold the Constitution means more now than it ever has. Democrats and establishment Republicans have usurped the constraints of the Constitution and arbitrarily grown their power at the expense of all Americans and their inalienable rights, turning a blind eye to the values and principles you and I share. With a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, I pledge to you my life, my fortune, and my sacred Honor."
I'm excited to bring a Limited Government Republican message to the 7th Congressional District and look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail."
First elected in November 2010, Rob began his service in Congress on January 3, 2011. Rob earned a seat on the powerful House Rules Committee and the House Budget Committee. At the beginning of the 114th Congress, Rob was given an additional assignment on the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee. On the Rules Committee, he is working to bring full debate and transparency to legislation in the House. On the Budget Committee, he is working with fellow Georgian, Chairman Tom Price to craft an aggressive proposal to balance the federal budget, and on T&I he works with his colleagues to find 21st century solutions to America’s infrastructure challenges.
Rob’s priority is creating an office that serves the people. He has made constituent service the foundation of his office, assisting thousands of families with federal casework, and responding to tens of thousands of individual constituent inquiries. He wants to make your voice count.
On his first day in office Rob reintroduced the FairTax with more original co-sponsors than ever before. He is an outspoken advocate for this revolutionary tax reform idea that will unleash the American economy. The elimination of the Federal income tax and passage of the FairTax would be the largest transfer of power away from Washington and back to the American people since our founding in 1787.
In addition to the FairTax, Rob drafted and introduced the Competitive Elections Act. To promote competition in elections, Rob’s legislation will zero out incumbent “war chests” at the end of each election cycle, ensuring a more level playing field between incumbents and challengers.
Rob takes to heart the saying, “a penny saved, is a penny earned.”He applies that same standard when voting in Congress. He is often ribbed by colleagues and friends for his well known penchant for thriftiness – but he strongly believes that this nation must become thrifty with the people’s hard earned tax dollars. He believes it is morally wrong, and irresponsible, to pass down the enormous national debt to future generations.
Rob is also a big fan of our National Parks. It is an inexpensive way for American families to enjoy this beautiful country. When time allows, he enjoys cross-country road trips, stopping at different National Parks along the way.
Rob Woodall was born in Athens, Georgia. He attended both public and private grade schools, finishing at Marist in 1988. Rob graduated at Furman University and received his law degree at the University of Georgia.
