On March 4th, fire struck the downtown Lawrenceville building where the Aurora Theatre stores the costumes, props and furniture not being used for a show. Three days later, the theatre was told that due to insurance regulations, everything they owned that could be salvaged had to be removed from the building by the end of the day. Volunteers helped get everything out, and a neighboring business was able to store some of it, but they were left with belongings sitting in an alley, with no place to put them.
After hearing about their problem, the Gwinnett Republican Party offered to store the leftovers in the basement of the party’s office on South Clayton Street. Volunteers moved three pickup truck loads of props, rugs and furniture into the basement. Later that month, the rest of the salvaged items were also moved into the party’s basement.
In an effort to extend the Republican message to the Hispanic community, the Gwinnett GOP has created a Spanish language Facebook page to complement our main page. The Spanish page will contain translated content of some of the posts on our regular page, along with additional links to sites such as Fox News Latino, Heritage Libertad and other Spanish language sites promoting conservative content.
The new page was created by Heather Alvarez. She will be working with Chandler Epp and Andrés Celedón to add additional content and respond to any comments and feedback we get. So far, the page has gained more than 40 likes.
