Learn About the Charter Schools Amendment at Our October Breakfast
In November, voters will have the opportunity to vote on an amendment to the Georgia Constitution that would permit the state to authorize local charter schools. Governor Deal praised the amendment when he appeared at the GOP rally. Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks condemned it when he spoke to the Gwinnett Chamber. It it a good idea, or not? At our October 6th breakfast, we’ll have State Rep. Buzz Brockway and School Board member Dr. Robert McClure make the arguments for and against.
Former Gwinnett GOP Chair Buzz Brockway was elected to Georgia House District 101 in 2010, representing much of the Collins Hill area. He faces no opposition in November, and will occupy a newly reconfigured House District 102 when the Legislature meets in January. Dr, Robert McClure joined the school board in January, 1995, representing District 4, which includes the Parkview, Brookwood, Berkmar, Shiloh and South Gwinnett clusters.
The breakfast will be held at 550 Trackside, 550 North Clayton Street in Lawrenceville. Doors open at 7:45 for networking and breakfast, and the program begins at 8:30.
