Chairman’s Update – September 25th, 2012

by Gwinnett GOP
Bruce LeVell

Gwinnett GOP Priorities for the Week

We are exactly six weeks until the election – only 42 days left to do all we can to ensure that this President doesn’t have four more years to enact his disastrous liberal agenda. Please don’t wake up on November 7th to find us on the losing side with the knowledge that you could have done just a little more. There are NO DO-OVERS. For those of you who attended our rally with Gov. Nathan Deal last week, I am sure you sensed the excitement and enthusiasm on our side. We had a lot of new folks at the rally, and we would love for any and all of you to get involved with our volunteer efforts!

New Phone Banking System at HQ

The Gwinnett GOP received delivery of our new state-of-the-art phone banking system at the HQ yesterday. This system has 10 separate phones that will each display and call a phone number from a pre-loaded list, allow rapid release of a voicemail message from one of our candidates in case of no answer, and automatically generate a script with questions for the volunteer to ask when a voter answers the phone. This system will allow our volunteers to dramatically increase the number of voter contacts we can make on behalf of the Romney/Ryan ticket as well as our local and state candidates, perhaps up to 80 calls per person per hour.

We will begin organizing mass phone banking opportunities as soon as possible, including “theme nights” for various groups that may want to volunteer all at once. We will begin immediately, though, for whoever is able to join us this Wednesday night, Sept. 26, at the HQ at 6:00 p.m. Sign up to help us here, or just show up if you are able to help. To sign up for a two hour slot of phone banking beginning October 1st, click here. Call Scott Haggard. 1st Vice Chair, with any questions at 678-471-7259.

Other Upcoming Opportunities

1) This Saturday, Sept. 29, we will be walking in the Duluth Fall Festival Parade, followed by participation in the Festival booth with our GOP candidates. We had a large group turn out for the Suwanee Parade two weeks ago, and are expecting an even larger crowd this time. Join us as we pass out yard signs and balloons on the parade route. Parade walkers should plan to arrive by 9:00 a.m., and it is recommended that walkers park at Gwinnett Community Bank (2775 Buford Hwy., Duluth) and ride the shuttle to the parade area. We will be #51 in the parade, and can be easily spotted by looking for Mark Williams’ big truck. Call our parade coordinator Jef Fincher at 770-861-2400 for more details. The Festival continues on Sunday Sept. 30 as well.

2) We still need some folks to help us staff the GOP headquarters. Interest in the Romney/Ryan campaign is so high that we are seeing a constant stream of phone calls and drop-ins asking for bumper stickers and yard signs, and we recently decided to open the HQ every Monday-Thursday from 10-7 and Friday-Saturday from 10-5. We have had some very dedicated volunteers already staffing the HQ on a regular basis (thank you Sara Snyder, Babs Fry, Dianne DiDio, Jan Overton, Raelle Frailey, Mary K. Mooney, and John Keel!), but we still have a few shifts open if you would like to help out. Sign up here.

3) If you are unable to make it to HQ for phone banking for any reason, the Romney campaign has set up an easy-to-use phone-from-home program on their website, which is a great way for those of us in Georgia to make a difference in the battleground states like Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and Colorado. Connect to it here

Finally, I want to thank the Energizer volunteer that is Mary Adamski for her great work in coordinating the GOP booth at the Gwinnett County Fair for the past two weeks. We had tremendous interest in our candidates, gave out about 1,000 yard signs and even more bumper stickers, and engaged in quite a few spirited debates. And we raised almost $1,500 in donations to the party for us to re-invest in our candidates! I also want to thank the numerous volunteers who manned the booth during the Fair, which are too many to name here, but the entire GOP thanks you!

Next week, look for additional activities with a focus on the Lawrenceville and Suwanee areas, as well as the first Presidential Debate-Watching Party and the next breakfast rally on Sat. October 6th.

If you still need a yard sign, fill out our yard sign request form here.

Sincerely,

Bruce LeVell
Chairman
