Chairman’s Update – August 27th, 2012
Dear Fellow Republicans,
As our party prepares to officially nominate Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as our presidential and vice-presidential candidates tomorrow in Tampa, I am thrilled about the level of enthusiasm I see from our party membership and the general public about our ticket. The polls in key battleground states have been tightening, as have the national polls, and the Democrats’ barrage of false and misleading attacks about Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan have done nothing to persuade voters that this President deserves another term to continue his ideologically-driven downward economic spiral. With the general election kicking into high gear, the Gwinnett GOP is undertaking a massive effort to get folks from throughout our county engaged in this election, and motivated to continue involvement with the party into the future, which I will discuss more below.
First, though, I want to let you know that Romney/Ryan yard signs and bumper stickers will be available in the very near future – for your yard, your neighbor’s yard, your other neighbor’s yard, your car, and any other flat surface you can find! The Gwinnett GOP will be getting an allotment of about 3,900 yard signs and 7,500 bumper stickers from the Georgia GOP, arriving in mid-September. There is also a possibility that we will have a smaller allotment prior to this time, which we will keep you informed about. There is an additional way you can help the Gwinnett GOP get even more signs from the state party – the party is accepting donations to its sign fund. It’s expected that each $10 contributed will purchase 9 signs and 8 bumper stickers. While all contributions must come from individuals, the donor can designate which group should receive the signs. You can make a donation by going to this website, and entering your personal and credit card information. If you would like the signs to be distributed to a county or district party, select the county/district in the My Team dropdown box. If you want the signs to go to another organization, like a Young Republicans group, College Republicans group, or even a Rotary or Kiwanis Club, put its name in the ‘Other’ box. Keep in mind that all donations must be made by Tuesday, August 28th in order to meet printing deadlines.
Next, for those of you who have some time on your hands during the day and wish to help staff the Gwinnett GOP Headquarters, we can use you! We are aiming to have the HQ open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and also from 5-7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. This way, interested voters can stop by at a time convenient for them to pick up a yard sign or information about the candidates, or find out how they can help. We are officially opening the HQ this week, but will need more folks as we get closer to the election. We have a convenient web sign-up form here, where you can sign up for any time between now and the election.
Finally, I want to give you a few more details about our massive grassroots mobilization plan for the fall. Beginning Monday, September 10, we will spend one week at a time focusing on a particular area within the county, doing a combination of door knocking, phone banking, and flyer distribution in different targeted precincts and locations. We will kick off each week with a special event in that area, where folks can come pick up yard signs, learn about volunteer opportunities, and meet fellow Republicans from that part of the county. This is unlike anything the Gwinnett GOP has ever done before, and we are very excited to take our message into every corner of Gwinnett. Expect to receive some phone calls and emails in the next two weeks about how you can volunteer to help with this effort.
I know you are as ready as I am to get the fall campaign in full swing. As Congressman Rob Woodall has said, do not wake up on November 7th thinking that you could have done more to keep this President from winning re-election!
Sincerely,
Bruce LeVell
Chairman

What is the location of the Gwinnett GOP Headquarters and is it open? Is there a phone number at HQ?
Gwinnett GOP headquarters is at 46 Clayton Street in Lawrenceville, near City Hall and in the same shopping center as the Magnolia Cafe. We are going to try to have headquarters open from 10 AM – 2 PM Monday through Saturday, and from 5 PM – 7 PM Monday through Thursdays. However, staffing depends on volunteers, so it’s possible that we won’t be open if we can’t find a volunteer to staff it.
The office phone is 678-373-1693.
