Honor Those Who Died For Our Freedom at the Dacula Memorial Day Parade
Again this year, the Gwinnett Republican Party will be marching in the Dacula Memorial Day Parade. This is Gwinnett’s largest parade of the year, and one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the state. The parade steps off at 10 AM from Hebron Baptist Church, and proceeds down Dacula Road to downtown Dacula. We expect elected officials and candidates to participate with us, and it’s always a great time and lots of fun to march.
Here is the schedule:
8 AM: Meet at Hebron Baptist to decorate the truck and float. We need 6 or 8 people to arrive early to set up the float and decorate the truck. We must have the float ready to go before we can enter the staging area for the parade. Look for Jon Richards’ blue-green Chevy Silverado pulling a trailer in the parking lot on the east side of the church. You should park in this lot.
9 AM: Parade Line Up. The parade lines up in the main church parking lot on the west side of Hebron Church Road. Only parade vehicles and marchers are allowed in this area. We are lining up in position 112, which should be fairly close to the church building.
10 AM: Parade steps off. The lead vehicles and marchers start, but given our position, it may very well be 10:30 or later before we actually start to march.
At the end of the parade, we will ride everyone back to the church and their cars.
Even though we may not start in the parade until 10:30, we suggest that participants arrive no later than 9:30 due to road closures and traffic congestion. You will find that the easiest access to the church is to take Fence Road off of 316 to Hebron Church Road, rather than Winder Highway and Dacula Road. If you have any questions, call Jon Richards at 770-823-2724 or Heather Alvarez at 678-906-8284.
